From brainstorming rooms to karaoke: a look into our foodpanda office in Hong Kong

With a fast growing team, at the end of last year foodpanda Hong Kong moved into a state-of-the-art, spacious new office. The aim was to inspire employees and provide a space to work comfortably, come together as a team and enjoy life at work.

A custom designed space was created, tailored to the requirements of each department, so every employee could feel at home. The result is an open design, with glass walls to encourage close collaboration and communication between all departments in the office.

“We moved in at the end of January 2019, the old office was too small and didn’t fit our expanding business plan,” Queenie Kwong, Head of Human Resources, said.

The result is an open design, with glass walls to encourage close collaboration and communication between all departments in the office.

The one floor office has many highlights to make the space more comfortable, including beautiful harbour views, small discussion areas, and a brainstorming room. Spanning 718 sq m, the new office will comfortably fit the 10 teams that are set to be working there.

All areas were created specifically for the needs of the teams

“The design was done without hiring an additional agency. We worked closely with the renovation company and discussed our needs and requirements. The department heads had a direct say in the design, with areas created specifically for their needs.” Queenie added.

With a focus on every voice being heard, flat hierarchies and flexible working spaces, the office has plenty of dynamic meeting space. The CEO room can be transformed into a brainstorming room (everyone is welcome to approach the CEO for a chat), and there are several discussion areas throughout the office.

The office is also a place to come together, relax and have fun. ‘The pantry’ is a dedicated social space with stunning views of Hong Kong harbour, and hosts to different activities every Friday.

Employees can enjoy a karaoke session, put on events and talks or enjoy some food or drink with their colleagues. “It’s like one big family,” Queenie says. The office also hosted a Housewarming Party when the teams first moved in, which included a Best Vendor Reward Ceremony.
