Behind the scenes: Three weeks in the life of Delivery Hero’s press team
Delivery Hero is a leading player in the digital industry. It doesn’t come by surprise that media outlets are interested to learn more about our strategy and the way we are doing business. Come and take a look behind the scenes of our press team’s activities from 2 August to 20 August 2018!
Time for a Trading Update to inform the public about our business performance in the first half of 2018 and our strategic plans going forward. In the morning we set up a telephone conference for journalists to provide some further information around the latest figures, and the company’s decision to deploy up to EUR 80 million for additional investments in the second half of 2018, taking advantage of the increasing food delivery market. We spoke with the likes of Bloomberg and Reuters who showed great interest in topics like market consolidation and investment targets.
Our CEO Niklas Östberg had an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung, Germany’s largest newspaper in the quality segment (i.e. excluding tabloid newspapers), which was published this day. On a side note Niklas said he somewhat liked the idea of meal kit delivery from restaurants, bringing the ingredients of their favourite dishes to the doorsteps of hungry customers. This caused speculation that Delivery Hero was about to enter the meal-kit space – with hilarious idea that Delivery Hero would be acquiring Berlin meal-kit giant, Hello Fresh! Ooops, that wasn’t exactly what Niklas said…
Press work is not only about replying to media inquiries, it’s also about actively sharing information. We published a blog article about the working conditions of our foodora riders on this day.
Social Media is obviously part of our daily business, too. Today we said “Congrats!” to our foodpanda team in Malaysia who just won an “Excellence Award as Best Food Delivery Service”.
Delivery Hero was featured as a cover story for German Investor magazine “Going Public”, a mandatory publication for all companies listed on the German stock exchanges. The seven-page story reports on the great development of the Delivery Hero stock price since IPO, and includes an interview with our CFO Emmanuel Thomassin.
Focus Business, an offshoot of Focus news magazine, visited our headquarters for an interview and a photo shoot with CEO Niklas Östberg. The business magazine plans to feature Delivery Hero as a cover story for their October issue , which will be titled “Wachstumschampions” (“Growth Champions”). We can live with that title.
Handelsblatt, Germany’s major business newspaper, came out with a report on how analysts rate the stocks of the large online food ordering platforms. The report states: “According to analysts, Delivery Hero offers the best opportunities …”. The updated analyst ratings continue to be very positive, with eight banks raising their price targets for Delivery Hero stocks after the Trading Update earlier this month.
We were lucky enough to have Bloomberg visit our headquarters for three days. The purpose of the visit: making a film about our technological efforts in personalization and food recommendation. The film will be released on Bloomberg.com in October, where it can be viewed by their global audience – currently approximately 20 million.
