Delivery Hero announces Hero Award winner

Berlin, 25 March 2019 – Delivery Hero SE is proud to announce the winner of its “Hero Award for Social Entrepreneurship,” which supports startups with a social or environmental mission.

The Hero Award will go to share, a social brand that focuses on the 1+1 principle. For every share protein bar, bottle of water or hand soap that’s sold, the company provides one meal, one day’s water supply, or one piece of soap to a person in need.

The winner was determined through an employee vote – all Delivery Hero employees worldwide had the opportunity to vote for the winning business from a shortlist composed by a jury.

Delivery Hero is also awarding an additional prize for ‘innovative pilot concept’ to Rebento, a startup with a mission to provide restaurants with reusable containers for takeout food that will be collected back from customers.

Share will receive EUR 15,000 prize money, as well as a dedicated mentoring program with some of Delivery Hero’s leading business and technology experts. In addition, Rebento will receive EUR 5,000 and support to further develop its concept.

Delivery Hero’s Sustainability and CSR Director, Jeffrey Oatham, said: “Share is a great company and a very worthy award winner. We are excited to support share with an extensive mentoring program to achieve their ambitious goals, both on a social and operational level.”

Sebastian Stricker, founder and CEO of share, said: “The whole share team here in Berlin got really excited when we heard we were this year’s winner of the Hero Award for Social Entrepreneurship. It is wonderful to have some external recognition of our work and it’s motivating us to further push boundaries. We are looking forward to working together with the Delivery Hero team.”

Carlos Gerber, Co-founder of Rebento, said: “Winning the Hero Award for most innovative pilot concept is so far the absolute highlight of our small business. We want to thank Delivery Hero for believing in our team and idea. Receiving this award gives us confidence, the possibility to accelerate the go-to market and most of all, it’s the best motivation to keep working hard to revolutionize takeaway packaging.”
