Delivery Hero grows 84% in Q1 2012

Within 18 months, the Berlin-based startup Delivery Hero has become one of the world’s leading online food ordering services. In the first quarter of 2012, its orders increased by 84%. Revenues on the platform will be more than €250 million this year.

“We are currently one of the fastest growing companies in the world.” To accelerate the growth, the two CEOs of Delivery Hero, Fabian Siegel and Niklas Östberg, decided to expand the company’s international activities. “Our German platform Lieferheld.de makes about a third of the revenues and remains an important growth driver,” said Fabian Siegel. Worldwide Delivery Hero has over four million customers. The network features 19,000 restaurants and delivery services on four continents.

Many investors are backing the growth of the company. It has already received €40 million from investors in order to become the world’s market leader for food deliveries. The convenience and choice of online ordering platforms is unrivaled: Customers only need to enter their post code and immediately get the list of restaurants with delivery services close by. Each restaurant has provided its menu. Consumers simply select their food and choose to pay online or with cash on delivery. Industry experts claim that in the mid-term, most orders will be placed online, as has happened in other industries such as flight and hotel bookings.

Delivery Hero has more than 400 employees around the world – with 250 staff working from its Berlin headquarters. In Finland, Poland, Austria and Switzerland the company is already the market leader. Important growth markets include Great Britain, Sweden, Russia, Australia and Mexico.
